At ISC Cherry Hill we often see friends spending time together around the facility, which is fantastic! However, parents did you know that sharing a hobby with your son or daughter is a great way to bond with them too? Being involved in your children’s sports also has the same bonding effect.
Families Who Play Together…
Stay together! Have you ever heard of a “Mommy and Me” or “Daddy and Me” day? A lot of parents, especially non-stay-at-home parents, now try to make time to spend with their kids one on one without the other parent present. The theory is that this individual parent to kid time can help make your relationship stronger, but what types of activities should you and your child do together?
The answer is simple: Do some fun, age-appropriate activities that you will both enjoy!
Parent-Kid Activity Suggestions
- Volunteer- Teach your kids how to be kind and help out others by volunteering. There is always a need for volunteers at various organizations, just check to be sure it is a kid-friendly charity before signing up your child.
- Sports- Get involved with your child’s sports, even if it’s just helping them practice or cheering them on at their latest match in ISC’s sports facilities. Your support will give them that extra boost of confidence they need.
- Reading- A great way to bond with your little tyke is to begin reading to them at a young age. Make a habit to read to them before bedtime; this will help them wind down, instill a love of reading into them and make you closer in the process.
- Enjoying Yourself- Bonding time doesn’t have to cost money! You can enjoy yourselves and bond anywhere! Like the outdoors? Go for a walk outside or go ride bikes at your local park. Play some video games or board games. Do a craft together or build something. Your options are endless!
Of course, we hope you plan to spend your special bonding time with us at the International Sports, Skating and Fun Center of Cherry Hill! Roller Skating is a great hobby and healthy exercise for kids and adults alike; plus it’s low impact on joints parents! We also have excellent sports leagues for kids and adults to participate in! No matter what you choose to do with your child, please be safe, have fun and give that child your full attention (that is the most important thing after all).
