If you’ve read any roller skating blog like ours at ISC Cherry Hill, you’ve probably noticed a few (if not several) posts stating how healthy this physical activity is for you. This is because it a) is a healthy sport, b) is good for you, and c) many people forget that rolling skating can be a workout because most think of it as only a fun thing to do every now and then.
The truth is that roller skating can be incorporated into your daily/weekly workout regime as easily as jogging, running, swimming and other cardiovascular exercises. Some may worry about having to buy roller skates, but any roller skating professional or skate pro shop can help you pick out what you need! Not sure if making a roller skate purchase is right for you? Consider the benefits and money you will save from renting skates if you make this a weekly part of your workout schedule. Plus, wouldn’t you buy new shoes for running? It is no different for skating.
The President’s Council for Physical Fitness and the American Heart Association both recommend roller skating for health and the RSA (The Roller Skating Association) have made an excellent infographic to show some of the health facts for this lovely sport. Check it out below:
Even if you do not want to make roller skating your prefered form of exercise, we hope this information is good to know even for simple recreational fun! Just know that while you are busy having fun, you are doing something great for your body too!
